The Ghana Police Service has intercepted 188 vehicles for various road traffic offences during a special enforcement exercise conducted in the Ashanti Region.
The report indicates that the Ghana Police Service has intercepted 188 vehicles for various road traffic offences during a special enforcement exercise conducted in the Ashanti Region.
It further notes that the operation, led by the Ashanti Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) with support from the Central MTTD in Accra and a team from the Police Headquarters, targeted motorists engaging in unauthorised practices on major roads in Kumasi.
The exercise was carried out at the Airport Roundabout and Santasi Roundabout, where officers focused on the unlawful use of sirens, horns, strobe lights, improvised headlamps, as well as the illegal use of road shoulders and verges.
During the operation, police removed and confiscated unauthorised devices and modified vehicle accessories found on the affected vehicles. Drivers were also educated on the relevant road traffic regulations and cautioned against engaging in similar offences.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to promote discipline, improve road safety and ensure order on the country’s roads.
The Service further indicated that similar enforcement operations will be conducted across the country to curb traffic violations and enhance compliance with road traffic laws.
