The report indicates that crisis has emerged within the United States Branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP-USA) following the disqualification of five aspirants ahead of the branch’s upcoming internal elections.
It further notes that the affected aspirants, who were contesting various executive positions, include Elijah Amanor Ametei, Branch Secretary hopeful; Nana Akua Musah, Youth Organiser hopeful; Ali Inusah Adams, Nasara Coordinator hopeful; Atta Johnson, Second Vice Chairman hopeful; and Stephen Adjei, Treasurer hopeful.
According to sources close to the aspirants, the NPP-USA Election Committee cited non-payment of membership dues as the basis for their disqualification.
However, the affected candidates have rejected the claim, insisting that they paid their dues within the required period and have documentary evidence, including receipts, to support their position.
The aspirants are stated to have presented the evidence to the Election Committee, but the decision to disqualify them was maintained.
The development has since generated concerns among some party members, with critics alleging that the decision could undermine the fairness and credibility of the electoral process.
Some supporters of the affected aspirants have called for the intervention of the party’s national leadership, including the Steering Committee, National Executive Committee and National Council, to review the matter and ensure that due process is followed.
They argue that a failure to address the concerns could affect unity within the NPP-USA branch and impact the party’s organisational activities among its members in the diaspora.
