Former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of hypocrisy over its criticism of the NDC government regarding the delayed completion of the Afari Military Hospital.

According to him, the NPP lacks the moral authority to attack the current administration over a project it failed to complete during its eight years in office.

Speaking to journalists in Accra, Mr. Agyapong said it was unfair for the opposition to demand immediate results from a government that has been in office for only a short period when the NPP itself could not finish the project despite having significantly more time.

“We were in government for eight years and did not complete the hospital. How can we now turn around and criticise a government that has been in office for just over a year?” he questioned.

The former lawmaker described the criticism as politically convenient and urged his party to be honest with Ghanaians about its own shortcomings.

His comments come after Minority MPs raised concerns over the continued delay in operationalising the 500-bed Afari Military Hospital in the Ashanti Region.

Mr. Agyapong maintained that both the NPP and NDC share responsibility for the prolonged delay, stressing that national development should not become a tool for partisan point-scoring.

His remarks have ignited debate on social media, with many viewing them as a rare acknowledgment of the NPP’s failure to deliver on a major healthcare infrastructure project before leaving office.
